US Income Tax Calculator 2025–2026
Estimate federal income tax and payroll/self-employment tax using filing status, tax year and annual income. State and local income taxes are intentionally excluded because rules differ materially by state and locality.
Enter your annual income
This calculator uses the standard deduction and progressive federal tax brackets. It is a planning estimate, not a tax return.
What the 2026 calculator uses
The 2026 standard deduction and federal tax brackets in this calculator are based on published IRS tax-year 2026 inflation adjustments. Employee Social Security is estimated at 6.2% up to the 2026 wage base and Medicare at 1.45%, with an additional Medicare estimate above the applicable filing-status threshold. Self-employment tax uses the common 92.35% net-earnings factor for this simplified planning model.
Why state tax is not shown as a fake precise number
State income tax can involve different brackets, deductions, credits, city taxes and special rules. A single flat percentage by state can look precise while being materially wrong. This calculator therefore focuses on the federal component and makes the limitation visible.
Turn the estimate into tax-ready records
If you are self-employed or run a small business, the tax result depends on the quality of your bookkeeping. Clean income and expense categories, reconciled financial accounts and well-supported year-end balances reduce cleanup work and make tax preparation easier.
